چکیده
Diet and trophic interactions of seven species planktivorous fishes: European anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus, sardine Sardina pilchardus, round sardinella Sardinella aurita, sprat Sprattus sprattus, red bandfish Cepola macrophthalma, damselfish Chromis chromis bogue Boops boops were studied in the Bay Marseille (North-Western Mediterranean Sea) from March to September 2017. Taxonomic composition size distribution prey using stomach content analysis, compared availability determined by continuous zooplankton sampling at a fixed point. Frequently consumed items included copepods, decapod larvae fish eggs. Comparatively, E. encrasicolus more calanoid copepods (i.e. Centropages spp.), S. aurita sprattus harpacticoid Microsetella/Macrosetella C. macrophthalma larvae, pteropods B. benthic polychaetes. pilchardus widest diversity prey. Prey average significantly differed among species. The prey–predator ratio (PPSR) was highest for lowest aurita. Carbon nitrogen stable isotope overlapped, probably due ingestion particulate organic matter same sources base planktonic food web Marseille. Furthermore, niche overlap supported hypothesis potential competition between Engraulidae Clupeidae.

Ecological Segregation in Space, Time and Trophic Niche of Sympatric Planktivorous Petrels
The principle of competitive exclusion postulates that ecologically-similar species are expected to partition their use of resources, leading to niche divergence. The most likely mechanisms allowing such coexistence are considered to be segregation in a horizontal, vertical or temporal dimension, or, where these overlap, a difference in trophic niche. Here, by combining information obtained fro...
متن کاملTrophic radiation through polymorphism in cichlid fishes.
Several morphologically defined species of cichlid fishes (Cichlasoma) endemic to the Cuatro Cienegas basin of Mexico and differing in tooth structure, body shape, and diet are allelically identical at 27 gene loci. The presence of only one Mendelian population in each of three drainage systems studied and the occurrence of two of the morphotypes in the same broods indicate that the supposed sp...
متن کاملMediterranean diet and longevity.
While several investigations have focused on the association between individual foods and nutrients upon the development of chronic diseases, few have examined the role that entire dietary patterns may play in health and disease. A dietary pattern generally considered to have beneficial health effects is that of the Mediterranean diet. In this paper, five cohort studies exploring the associatio...
متن کاملMediterranean diet and depression.
OBJECTIVE The adherence to a Mediterranean Dietary Pattern ensures an adequate intake of B vitamins and w-3 fatty acids. A protective role on depression has been suggested for both nutrients. DESIGN Cross-sectional analysis from the SUN (Seguimiento Universidad de Navarra) prospective cohort study. Data from 9670 participants (4211 men and 5459 women) were analised. Logistic regression analys...
متن کاملPON1 and Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet has been proven to be highly effective in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) has been implicated in the development of those conditions, especially atherosclerosis. The present work describes a systematic review of current evidence supporting the influence of Mediterranean diet and its constituents on this enzyme. Despite the differential resp...
